Best Cricket Turfs in Pune: Where the Real Players Book
Pune's cricket turf scene is huge. Here's the shortlist that actually delivers.
Pune has probably the deepest turf market in western India. Every corner of the city. Baner, Kothrud, Wakad, Hadapsar, Kharadi, Viman Nagar, Aundh, has at least three turfs within a 3km radius. That abundance is also the problem: sorting the properly-maintained turfs from the ones coasting on their SEO is genuinely hard. Here's what we've learned from booking dozens of Pune slots.
Kothrud & Karve Nagar, the classic corridor
If you're playing regularly, the Kothrud–Karve Nagar belt is the most reliable. Established turfs, honest pricing, real 90x60 pitches with proper astroturf, and floodlights that actually cover the outfield. Expect ₹1,400–₹1,800 for weekend evening slots. Downside: parking gets messy on weekends because every second building in the area also has a wedding lawn.
Baner, Balewadi, Aundh, the new-money turfs
These are the newest, best-lit, best-maintained turfs in Pune, and they charge for it. ₹2,000–₹2,800 for weekend prime slots. Worth it if you want a turf that feels like a proper sports facility (rest area, changing rooms, LED scoreboard). Not worth it if you're a 12-friend Saturday squad splitting the cost, you're paying for gear you won't use.
Wakad, Hinjewadi, Pimple Saudagar. IT crowd turfs
Optimised for after-work office cricket. Slots turn over in strict 90-minute blocks, staff runs the timer tight. Great if your squad is disciplined and just wants a hassle-free weeknight game; less great if you want to hang around after. Weeknights fill up 3–4 days out.
Hadapsar, Kharadi, Viman Nagar, east Pune quality
The east side has a handful of high-quality turfs and a lot of average ones. The good ones have full boundary nets, proper wickets, and clean bathrooms. Ask around your east-Pune friends before you commit to a season pass, the drop-off in quality is steeper here than any other part of Pune.
What Pune turfs should charge in 2026
- Weekday morning (6–9am): ₹700–₹1,100 per hour
- Weekday evening (7–10pm): ₹1,200–₹1,800 per hour
- Weekend evening prime (6–10pm): ₹1,800–₹2,800 per hour
- Late night (10pm–1am): ₹1,000–₹1,500 per hour
- Box cricket 4-hour block: usually ₹4,500–₹6,000
The floodlight test
Every turf claims 'full floodlights'. Fewer than half actually have even coverage. Before you commit, ask for a photo taken from the boundary corner at night, if you can't clearly see the far side, catches will be dropped in the deep and long-on will become the position no one wants to field.
Pune-specific things to know
- Monsoon (June–Sept), even open turfs get flooded. Book covered or netted turfs and confirm the day of.
- Wedding season, huge chunks of parking around Kothrud/Karve Nagar get eaten up on weekends. Uber it if you can.
- College tournament season (Aug–Nov), top turfs get block-booked. Book 2 weeks out for weekends.
- Winter mornings (Dec–Feb). 6am slots at prime turfs are basically empty and 40% cheaper. Great for hardcore squads.
