Free Ad-Free Cricket Scorer: A CricHeroes Alternative for Turf

For a one-hour turf game you need a scorecard and a live link, not ads between every screen.

🏏

CricHeroes is the best known cricket scoring app in India, and for good reason. But many people who score a casual weekend game on a turf say the free version has become hard to use, mainly because of ads and features moved behind its Pro plan. If all you need is a clean scorecard for a box cricket match and a live link for friends, TapTurf's Live Cricket Scorer does that for free, with no ads.

What users say about CricHeroes

These are complaints from CricHeroes users in public reviews and posts. They are their views, not our tests, and CricHeroes has responded to some of them.

  • Ads. The Google Play listing says the app contains ads and in-app purchases. Game Brain's summary of about 900 user reviews lists frequent ads in the free version as the most common complaint. In a Google Play review on 29 August 2026, a user said an ad pops up each time they switch between tournaments and matches; CricHeroes replied on 31 August 2026 that it would try to keep ads from interfering.
  • Your own stats behind Pro. In a LinkedIn post in May 2025, cricketer Abhishek Shukla objected that players could no longer see their own career summary without a Pro subscription. A CricHeroes reply in the comments said the career summary now sits under Pro, priced at roughly ₹1 a day.
  • Fees are final. CricHeroes' Paid Service Terms say subscription fees are final and nonrefundable unless CricHeroes decides otherwise, and cancelling does not refund the rest of the billing period.
  • Too much for a casual game. In a Reddit r/Cricket thread on scoring local low-level games (October 2025), a commenter called CricHeroes the most popular option but a bit complex, because it builds detailed player profiles and even records shot direction.

Where CricHeroes is the better choice

To be fair, CricHeroes does a lot that our scorer does not try to do.

  • Tournaments: tournament pages with points tables, schedules, fixtures and NRR.
  • Career profiles: batting and bowling stats that build up across every match you play, plus leaderboards and awards.
  • Live video streaming of matches, and highlights after the game.
  • A large community for finding teams, players, umpires and grounds.

If you play league cricket, run a tournament, or want a record of your career, CricHeroes is built for that. TapTurf's scorer is built for the single match you are playing tonight.

What TapTurf's Live Cricket Scorer does

  • One tap per ball on 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6. Wides, no-balls, byes and leg byes take one more tap for the runs.
  • Wickets ask how the batter got out and who comes in next; the end of an over asks who bowls next. Player names are optional.
  • Full scorecard with extras, fall of wickets, partnerships and bowling figures, plus an over by over list, Manhattan and worm charts, and ball by ball commentary.
  • Box cricket house rules: wide worth 0 or 1, no-ball worth 1 or 2, free hits on or off, overs per bowler limit, last man stands and a retire-at score.
  • Undo and Redo, and every ball is saved in your browser so a reload does not lose the match.
  • A result card image at the end, with top scorer, best bowler and player of the match.

TapTurf scorer vs CricHeroes for a casual turf match (as of 22 Oct 2026)

CricHeroes details are from its Google Play listing, its Paid Service Terms and the sources below, checked on 22 October 2026. Features and prices can change, so check the app for the latest.

The person scoring turns on a live link (one login with Google or a phone number) and sends it on WhatsApp. Anyone with the link sees the score as soon as they open it in the browser. A quick login keeps it updating ball by ball. The scorer can turn the link off any time, and only that match is uploaded. If you do not want a live link, Share live score sends a WhatsApp-ready text update instead.

Playing football, badminton or pickleball instead? The Live Scoreboard works the same way for other sports, also free and with no ads. Our earlier post covers both tools in detail.

Every feature of both tools, explained.

Is there a free cricket scoring app without ads?
TapTurf's Live Cricket Scorer is free and shows no ads. It runs in your phone's browser, so there is no app to download, and you do not need an account to score.
Is TapTurf a full replacement for CricHeroes?
No. It is a simpler option for single casual matches. It does not keep career stats across matches, run tournaments or stream video. If you need those, CricHeroes is the better fit.
Can friends follow the score live?
Yes. The scorer turns on a live link with one login and shares it. Followers see the score when they open the link, and a quick login keeps it updating.
Does it work for box cricket rules?
Yes. You can set wide and no-ball runs, free hits, an overs per bowler limit, last man stands and a retire-at score.
